Inpatient Medicine

Residents have rotations in Inpatient Medicine in all 3 years.

In their first year, residents rotate with the Family Medicine service as well as with the hospitalist service at Providence St Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

  • PGY-1 Year: 8 weeks day shift, 2 weeks night shift

In their 2nd and 3rd years, residents rotate with the hospitalist service at Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA. This includes an open 6 -bed ICU, so residents can gain additional experience caring for complex critically ill patients. After hours community call for clinic patients may overlap inpatient medicine rotation during PGY-3 year.

  • PGY-2 Year: 8 weeks day shift, 4 weeks night shift
  • PGY-3 Year: 8 weeks day shift

Elective Opportunities: At Providence Centralia Hospital, residents have the opportunity to participate in inpatient procedural skills during their rotations or with additional elective time.
