Addiction Medicine Curriculum
We provide robust training for our residents in addiction medicine beginning
in their intern year. Learning opportunities include 1 dedicated week
in intern year and additional experiences are longitudinal throughout
all three years. Residents can also opt to spend elective time in our
addiction medicine specialty clinic as well as at low barrier buprenorphine
clinics in Centralia and Olympia.
By the end of their training, residents have gained great experience in
the outpatient management of:
- Alcohol Use Disorder
- Methamphetamine Use Disorder
- Opiate Use Disorder
- Hepatitis C
Our addiction medicine curriculum also includes:
- Buprenorphine training early in R1 year
- Didactics and workshops throughout all three years
- Caring for patients in our Outpatient Based Opioid Treatment specialty
clinic at Chehalis Family Medicine
- Caring for patients through our community partnerships with Gather Church's
Meds First Low Barrier Buprenorphine clinic and syringe exchange as well
as with Olympia Buprenorphine Clinic
- Participation in community partnership with Lewis County Drug Court
