
Ismael Concepcion Poo graduated from St. Martin's University in 2015 with Masters in Counseling Psychology. He completed his practicum at the Institute of Family Development providing behavioral health services to families through in-home interventions. Upon completion he accepted a position with the Department of Corrections as a mental health counselor at the Special Offenders Unit in Monroe, WA working with seriously mentally ill inmates. In 2017, he led a workshop at the Washington Behavioral Healthcare conference discussing the increased role of mental health services in the correctional industries. Following this he worked with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department for three years as a Mental Health Evaluation Specialist at the Pierce County Detention and Corrections Center.
