Dr. O’Rourke was born in Tacoma and has been a lifelong resident of Washington state. He began his academic journey at Highline College, where he developed a passion for social justice upon witnessing the transformative impact of community services on students' lives. He then pursued further education at the University of Washington. Between his university studies and medical school, Dr. O’Rourke worked as a scribe at the Tacoma General emergency department, which ignited his interest in providing care for unhoused populations. He was particularly drawn to St. Peter Family Medicine due to its street medicine program. His other areas of interest include addiction medicine, treating patients with medical PTSD, and gender-affirming care.
