Dr. Harrik was raised in an Army family, living in Kentucky, Washington,
and eventually settling in Wisconsin where their family is from. They
attended the University of WI- Madison for a bachelor's degree in Religious
Studies with an emphasis in South Asian Studies. Their experience before
medical school was largely in social services for homeless populations.
In medical school, Dr. Harrik worked with the Hmong community in Wausau,
WI, helping to increase access to healthcare careers for Hmong high school
students. Ready to branch out from Wisconsin, Dr. Harrik, along with their
wife and baby, were drawn to the PNW by its atmosphere and adventure.
They were drawn to SPFM because of the program’s clear dedication
to both resident wellness and caring for underserved populations. They
have special interests in patient education, mental health, and addiction
medicine. They particularly enjoy helping patients navigate the complexities
of their health and the healthcare system. Outside of medicine, Dr. Harrik
enjoys spending time with their family, reading fantasy, and going to
local events.
