Thea grew up in Keokuk, Iowa, a small rural town which she still loves returning to. After studying at Smith College in Massachusetts, she completed a Fulbright on breast cancer research in Belgium. During her time abroad she also gave a TEDx talk aimed at inspiring young students to be proactive about their dreams. She then returned to rural Iowa to work as an EMT for a year before starting medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. She is thrilled to be joining St. Peter’s Family Medicine program in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and to pursue rural medicine, sports medicine, and global health. Outside of healthcare she loves hiking with her husband, taking landscape photographs, and watching baking shows.
