Tessa was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada where she grew up
doing all things outdoors--camping, cross country skiing and hiking in
the Canadian Rockies. She completed her BSc in Biology at the University
of Victoria where she worked in research as well as with a non-profit
organization doing marine conservation and public education. After finishing
her B.Sc. she moved to a small northern community in Canada where she
realized her calling in the connections built in family medicine. During
her years in medical school she worked on the executive board for Women
in Medicine organizing educational programs for adolescent mothers, and
tutored students through the medical honor society. Her clinical years
took her all over the USA, but her favorite clinical experience was with
the family medicine community she found at Providence St. Peter. She is
thrilled to be staying in the rainy Pacific Northwest for residency where
her goal is to provide inclusive and non-judgmental primary care. Her
clinical interests include women’s health, patient advocacy, and
lifestyle medicine. When she is not in the clinic, Dr. McLaughlin hopes
to be in the mountains, running, painting, or making Friday night pizza
with her husband.
