Do you have a "minimum exam score" for eligibility?

We do not have a minimum score requirement but do require you have passed your exams within 2 attempts.

All scores must be received before the application deadline. Please be aware that it can take up to 6 weeks for scores to be released from USMLE and/or COMLEX

Do I have to submit a family medicine letter of recommendation?

YES you must submit a letter of recommendation from a family medicine physician with whom you have completed a family medicine rotation.

Please be aware that ERAS only allows for four LORs to be uploaded. One of those must be from a family medicine physician.

Are you a competitive program?

Yes, our program only offers 7 positions annually, and we are the only family medicine residency program in our community.

Are you D.O. friendly?

Yes, please see our D.O. FAQ page. We were the first Osteopathic recognized program in the state!

Are you IMG friendly?

Do you offer second looks?

We will offer a single day of structured tours of our residency clinic and hospital campus. Outside of this date, we will offer 1-off tours as we are able to accommodate them. Sign up for our formal tour will be posted once it is available. If you have questions about tours, please contact our coordinator team.

**ALL tours will occur after we have finalized our rank list and therefore do no impact rank**

Do you offer in person interviews?

At this time, we do not offer in person interviews. We have found that only having virtual interviews via Thalamus lessens the burden on our applicants as they are no longer having to pay for airfare, hotels, rental cars, food, etc. Having virtual interviews increases the equity of our interview process.

How do you serve your community?

We offer a variety of experiences serving the members of our community. Some of our most notable partnerships are Reach out and Read, street medicine, working with the Nisqually tribe to provide OB care, and many residents focus their QI projects on community needs and improvement opportunities.

What does the interview schedule look like?

For the 2024 interview season, we will offer 144 interview spots. We begin reviewing applications via ERAS on September 25, 2024. We will begin our interviews in Mid-October and conclude in early December.

  • Applicants will select from one of the below interview times, where each session can have 4 interviewees:
    • 8a-10a
    • 10a-12p
    • 1p-3p
    • 3p-5p

During the interview, applicants will have a 15-minute introduction with the PD and coordinators followed by four, 20-minute sessions where you will meet with each of the following interview panels:

  • PD - Yo Kondo, MD
  • Faculty
  • First and Second year resident
  • Third year resident and Medical Assistant

There is a 5-minute break in-between each session and we conclude with a 5-minute wrap-up hosted by the coordinators.

Do you offer meet & greets?

Yes! Meet & Greets are one of our residents favorite part of interview season! They will occur after-hours and are fully virtual. Once a candidate has been invited to interview via Thalamus, they will be able to see the Meet & Greet schedule.

Do you use Thalamus?

Yes, our program has used Thalamus for many years now. It is our only resource for interviews, and you must have a Thalamus account to interview. Thalamus Applicant User Guide

Do you accept paper or universal applications?

No. We accept only those applications submitted through the ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) system

Do I have to participate in the match?

Yes. We will only consider and interview those applicants who are planning on ranking our program through the National Resident Matching Program.

The NRMP Match Numbers below must be used when ranking each site.
