Excellence in Care, Powered by Compassion and Innovation
Providence St. Vincent Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in healthcare, consistently setting the standard for clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Named a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 2024–25, the medical center earned "High Performing" ratings in 21 areas of care, including geriatrics, neurology, orthopedics, and pulmonology. Our surgical teams are among the best in the nation, with superior outcomes in heart bypass surgery, spinal fusion, and colon cancer procedures. We are also one of only twelve hospitals worldwide to receive the Magnet designation for nursing excellence six times—an honor that reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and compassionate care.
The extraordinary care provided at Providence St. Vincent is made possible not only by our dedicated caregivers but also by the generosity of our community. Through the Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation, donor contributions have driven transformative improvements across the hospital. Philanthropy has enabled the addition of 16 new critical care beds, supported 38 life-saving heart transplants, funded 10 neonatal incubators, and provided over 1,500 scholarships for nurses and caregivers to advance their clinical training. A landmark $47 million renovation of Portland’s busiest emergency department was also made possible through donor support. These investments ensure that we continue to deliver world-class care to every patient, every day—regardless of their ability to pay.
