Providence Portland Medical Center is a major teaching affiliate of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Washington State University (WSU). Many of our faculty and staff physicians hold academic appointments from both universities, and the relationships are fostered through a mutual commitment to undergraduate medical education. Students from OHSU and WSU as well as other visiting medical students rotate on the medical wards, ICU, and ambulatory care settings. They have consistently rated their experiences on the medicine wards and ICU as some of their best rotations, citing the exceptional quality and quantity of teaching. Residents and faculty alike enjoy the challenges of teaching medical students, which adds to the rigorous academic environment of the program.
