Student Rotations

Sub-Internship

Providence Oregon Family Medicine offers a four-week sub-internship in family medicine for fourth-year medical students. This is a rigorous program in which students will spend two weeks on inpatient service and two weeks at Providence Medical Group-Milwaukie or Providence Medical Group-Southeast.

While on the inpatient service, students will closely follow patients, manage their care under the guidance of residents and faculty, and present their patients at morning report. Students will work with their team’s coverage of patient calls and ER admissions. In clinic, students will work with a senior resident or faculty preceptor, seeing a wide variety of patients. Students will write chart notes and help provide ancillary care, such as interpreting X-rays and reading EKGs.

Because space is limited, you should inquire early. Please indicate more than one block to increase your chances of getting a rotation with us.
