Applicants must be graduates of medical schools in the United States and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME); colleges of Osteopathic medicine in the US accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); or graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada who meet one of the following qualifications:
Applicants should be eligible to be licensed in the State of Oregon. Applicants should have passed USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX 1 and to be competitive with other applicants a minimum score of 200 on Step1 or COMLEX >405 and a score of >220 on Step 2 CK or a COMLEX 2 of >443 is recommended. A passing score for Step 2 or COMLEX 2 is required for applicants to be ranked by the program.
International medical graduates must have a valid ECFMG certification and U.S. citizenship, or permanent resident status. Providence Milwaukie Family Medicine Residency does NOT sponsor visas of any kind. In addition, applicants should have demonstrable inpatient experience and credible recommendations from an ACGME-accredited teaching hospital within the last five years. Applicants must speak fluent English, though other language skills can be an asset. Passage of the 'English Proficiency' test for the ECFMG does not assure this level of competency.
