Application Process

Providence Portland Medical Center participates in the National Residency Matching Program. We welcome qualified graduates from M.D. and D.O. programs. Applications must be submitted through Electronic Residency Matching Program (ERAS). Paper and email applications will not be accepted or reviewed. Traditionally all positions fill and we do not have available positions post-Match.

Application deadline is December 1 - Early application is encouraged as interview spots are limited and fill quickly!

The application materials we require are as follows:

  • Completed ERAS application
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Personal Statement
  • Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
  • Three letters of recommendation – one from the department chair on internal medicine or a department representative from your third year clerkship.
  • USMLE/COMLEX transcripts for Step 1 (with Step 2 results available before ranking deadline)

Interviews

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be conducting ALL interviews virtually. We are working hard to design an interview day that will best capture the personal feel of our program so you can discover the best fit learning environment for yourself. We will update the website once the schedule of the interview day is confirmed.
  • Interviews begin early November and extend through mid-January.
  • Invitations are extended after thorough review of each application.
