Salary and Benefits
Resident salaries are the same at all Providence hospitals and are competitive
with other residency programs in Portland. These salaries do not include
compensation for medical, dental, liability, life insurance and other
additional paid benefits.
Effective salaries are:
- PGY1 - $66,882
- PGY2 - $70,163
- PGY3 - $73,013

Additional Financial Support includes:
- Annual Housing Stipend - $4180
- Annual Wellness Stipend - $500
- Hood River residents receive a Rural Transition Stipend of $1600 to help
with moving expenses to Hood River at the end of intern year
- Annual Food Allowance: $2743

- Continuing Medical Education - $3500 total for 3 years as a categorical
resident. Rather than an annual stipend, this single amount is designed
to more fully support attending a CME* event in person if desired. It
can be used for conferences, membership in professional medical societies,
journal subscriptions, medical books and exam preparation material for
board certification and courses to improve time management and organizational skills.
