Life in Hood River

We know this year is so different and wish we could visit with you in our beautiful place with call home and the Columbia River Gorge. We love it here! Hood River is a beautiful community where the people are warm and friendly, the town has so much to offer, and the scenery can’t be beat. Don’t be fooled by its small size-- Hood River is a dynamic and interesting place. An outdoor enthusiasts dream, Hood River has it all: hiking trails, mountain biking, camping, skiing, kite and wind surfing. After a hard day playing outside, we have everything from fine dining to taco trucks, as well as several breweries and wineries. For dessert, head out to the Fruit Loop where you can pick cherries, apples, and pears right off the tree. See the websites below for more information about the town and the surrounding area. Portland, a large cultural center, is a quick 1 hour drive through the lovely Columbia Gorge. Pictures provided below were taken by our residents, others by faculty.
