Salary and Benefits

  • First year resident: $58,207
  • Second year resident: $60,502
  • Third year resident: $62,980

Relocation allowance: $1,500

Paid Time Away:

  • 4 weeks of PTA (paid time away)

Family Leave

Our program follows the ABFM policy for Family Leave for Maternity/Paternity leave or for emergency medical leave allowing for 8 weeks of family leave. This is taken as short-term disability leave at 100% pay.

Additionally, residents can take more elective time for Parent-Bonding or Patient as Provider Electives if needed for family transitions.

We offer a generous flexible benefits program (including medical, dental and vision) for you and your family.

Fitness Center

Free membership at Providence St. Peter Hospital's Fitness Center.

Meal Stipend

$60 per month for first- and second-year residents.

Malpractice Insurance

Malpractice insurance is provided.

Education Stipend

  • Up to $250 for first year residents
  • Up to $500 for second year residents
  • Up to $1,000 for third year residents

Certifications

We provide all BLS, ACLS, NRP, ALSO and PALS training.

Medical License and DEA Certification

Fees paid in full; includes all associated fees (e.g. USMLE report, transcript fees).

ABFM Board Fee

Cost of the application for ABFM exam will be reimbursed. The program will reimburse for only one attempt at this exam. Residents must provide a copy of their board scores.

Part III Boards Fee

Cost of the application for Part III of the National Boards will be reimbursed. The program will reimburse for only one attempt at this exam. Residents must provide a copy of their Step III Score Report.

Travel

Mileage for the Rural Training Program Residents in the first year will be reimbursed for rotation travel away from the Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater area. Mileage in the second and third year will be reimbursed for rotation travel to sites away from the Centralia/Chehalis area.

Pager

Residents will be provided an alphanumeric pager which must be returned at the end of residency.
