The Providence St. Peter Chehalis Rural Training Program is centered around providing high-quality care for an underserved population, utilizing the latest guidelines and research. Our home base continuity clinic is Chehalis Family Medicine in Chehalis, Lewis County, WA.
Our program is a strong fit for medical students looking to provide empathetic and evidence-based care for medically underserved persons, develop a solid foundation in the fundamentals of full spectrum family medicine, and experience innovative practice models at our Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). We offer a rigorous rural family medicine training program with robust support from upper-level residents, faculty, administration, and not least of all, our support staff. We are an interdisciplinary team with physicians, pharmacists, and behaviorists in our clinic and we collaborate in team-based care with warm handoffs and easy communication to facilitate excellent patient care. Additionally, our medical assistants and nurses are key parts of our healthcare delivery system and are supported in working at the greatest extent of their training.
In order to facilitate broad spectrum learning, many first-year hospital-based
rotations take place at our larger Providence St. Peter Hospital (PSPH)
in Olympia, WA, with the
St. Peter Family Medicine Residency Program, and most second- and third-year hospital-based rotations are at our smaller
community hospital (Providence Centralia Hospital (PCH)) in Centralia, WA.
We hope that you consider all that our residency has to offer you as a
physician to prepare you for a sustainable life-long career caring in
family medicine.
