Swedish Medical Center is pleased to sponsor a General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry. The program has been accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation.
Swedish Medical Center is the largest nonprofit health-care provider in the Greater Seattle area with three hospital locations and a network of 14 primary-care locations. The primary service lines include oncology, cardiology, neurologic care, orthopedics, obstetrics, transplant, emergency and primary care. There are extensive programs for community health, and over $15M in direct charity care was donated in 2007.
The dental residency has a robust educational program in both clinical and didactic dentistry. It supports the inpatient and outpatient services and to provides care in the Emergency Department. Clinical rotations are provided on the Transplant, Hospitalist, Cardiac Surgery, Anesthesia and Family Medicine services. The outpatient clinical education program occurs in affiliation with Seattle Special Care Dentistry, a private dental practice designed for the provision of advanced general dentistry to all varieties of medically complex, special needs and general dental patients. IV sedation and GA are featured. The office was built in 2008 and includes digital radiography/ records. The facility has large rooms and doors to accommodate wheelchairs and gurneys.
The partnership between Swedish Medical Center and Seattle Special Care Dentistry provides a unique collaborative opportunity to serve the needs of the medical center, provide care for underserved medically complex/special needs populations in the Pacific Northwest, while offering an exciting educational program for residents.
