For Observers

Attention: Observation Program The Observer Program is paused and not accepting new observer applications through June 30, 2025. Any observers currently onboarded may complete their experience as outlined in their original precepting agreement. If you have a signed/dated preceptor agreement (signed by both provider and observer) and would like to be put on our waitlist for start dates after July 1st, 2025, please send to gmeonboarding@swedish.org and you will be contacted to begin onboarding as soon as the process resumes.

Swedish Health Services / Swedish Medical Center has two main teams that onboard learners coming into our system. We handle shadowing experiences (observerships) according to the type of PROVIDER to be shadowed.

Graduate Medical Education (GME) team offers Observerships involving the following PROVIDER types:

  • Physicians (MD/DO)
  • Physician Assistants (PA-C)
  • Podiatrists (DPM)
  • Dentists (DMD/DDS)
  • Nurse Practitioners

If you are interested in arranging a shadowing experience with a Nurse (RN) or Allied Health Professional (e.g., medical assistant, radiology technician, physical therapist, audiologist), please contact the Swedish Clinical Education team: StudentOnboarding@swedish.org.
