Are there any additional requirements for application?
The standard requirements, as outlined in
PhORCAS, are all that are required. Should you match to our site, you will be
asked to fill out an online application through our normal HR recruitment
process. Successful completion of pre-employment screening (including
but not limited to, a drug screen and background check) will be required.
Can you explain the WSU teaching certificate?
Residents provide support to onsite activities throughout the year. These
including helping precept students, running journal club and participatingin
chalk talk/case presentations. Opportunities for residents to provide
didactic and small group education to first- through third-year students
are available. A long-standing relationship with the College of Pharmacy
and close proximity to the campus provide a great opportunity for enhanced
learning experiences. A teaching certificate is offered if specific teaching
experiences are met by the resident.
Where is the Sacred Heart Anticoagulation and Pharmacotherapy Clinic located?
The Providence Sacred Heart Anticoagulation and Pharmacotherapy Clinic
is located in Spokane, WA (approximately 280 miles east of Seattle) in
the Inland Northwest. The area is surrounded by a variety of nature and
landscapes including rolling wheat fields, forests, snow-capped mountains
and clear lakes, with a river at the center of the city.
Spokane has four seasons, which accommodates a wide variety of outdoor activities.
With several colleges nearby, it is host to college sporting events and
community sports, including
Hoopfest (largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world) and
Bloomsday (the second largest timed road race in America).

Entertainment
Spokane's arts scene and cultural heritage offer an incredible entertainment
experience. There are award winning museums, orchestras, performing artists
and Broadway shows (at the Performing Arts Center.) Parking is plentiful
and easy. From comedy to concerts to theater, the performances and prices
are tough to beat.

Numerous restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and bistros offer plenty
of dining options.

Wine tasting
Washington is great wine country! The Spokane area alone has over ten
wine-tasting rooms. The Tri-Cities wine industry, a two-hour drive from Spokane, is second
in size only to California’s Napa Valley and has another 10+ tasting rooms.

Outdoor activities
Spokane has four seasons that accommodate a wide variety of outdoor activities.
Any and all outdoor activities can be pursued here. These include hiking
numerous local trails at the 10,000 acres of
Riverside State Park or
Mount Spokane State Park. The more adventuresome can make the short drive to the Canadian Rockies
or the Cascade Mountains.
The Spokane Mountaineers offer a stellar array of outdoor pursuits, training
courses and lectures to entice everyone from weekend warriors and seasoned
experts. The Mountaineers sponsor trips and activities including kayaking,
rafting, rock climbing, snowshoeing, mountain biking and hiking.

Spectator sports
For college sports,
Gonzaga University,
Eastern Washington University and
Whitworth University are in Spokane and play their games here.
Washington State University, our closest PAC-12 school, is 70 miles south of Spokane.
For professional sports, Spokane has several minor league franchises. The
Spokane Chiefs hockey team of the Western Hockey League plays at the Spokane Arena, while the
Spokane Indians baseball team, a Texas Rangers affiliate, play at Avista Stadium.
What is the staffing requirement?
Residents will be expected to staff one day per week, with two week-long
staffing blocks. Staffing will be done in the Sacred Heart Pharmacotherapy
Clinic. Residents will always be fully supported during their staffing
requirements, yet, will work independently.
