Diversity

“Isn't it amazing that we are all made in God's image, and yet there is so much diversity among his people?” - Desmond Tutu

Welcome to The Department of Medical Education’s Diversity page. We hope this page can provide you some useful resources for providing patient care and improving diversity within your program.

The Department of Medical Education is intent on assuring we fulfill the Sisters of Providence’s promise to embrace all people in belief in the inherent value of every person. We also recognize the value of training a diverse physician work force to provide high quality care to our increasingly diverse patient population.

Individuals of different ethnicity, race, sex, and gender often present with unique health challenges and we must understand them as individuals in order to effectively provide care. We strive to increase our Department’s cultural competency and align our efforts with the mission of Providence Regional Office of Diversity.

Mission Statement

As People of Providence we reveal God's love for all, especially the poor and vulnerable, through our compassionate service.
