Providence Newberg Medical Center (PNMC) and Providence Milwaukie Hospital (PMH) are small community hospitals near Portland, Oregon. As a part of Providence Health & Services these two facilities are able to harness the strength of progressive medical practices and advanced technology while maintaining their community-oriented atmosphere. The Newberg/Milwaukie PGY1 Residency program also benefits from the diverse experience and resources of the other Providence pharmacy residencies combined with its own unique blend of acute and ambulatory pharmacy practices.
PNMC is a 40-bed community hospital connected to a suite of ambulatory care physician offices. The primary patient population is medical/surgical and obstetrics. PMH is a 77-bed acute care hospital with a Family Medicine Residency Program. Services include senior psychiatry and medical/surgical. Both facilities have onsite anticoagulation clinics staffed by pharmacists.
Each resident is based at either PNMC or PMH for staffing purposes. However, residents will rotate between the two sites including a few other Providence facilities for diverse practice experiences. There are off-site meetings, conferences, and projects where the two residents join the other Portland-based Providence pharmacy residents.
The Newberg/Milwaukie PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is dedicated to providing the resident with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to pursue a pharmacy career focused on optimal drug therapy outcomes.
Effective patient-centered, clinical pharmacy practice is a philosophy that’s supported across the entire Providence organization. Join us virtually to meet our pharmacy teams, receive an overview of each program’s curriculum and details, and an opportunity for questions and answers.
