Curriculum

General

The fellowship is one year long. Fellows rotate on a three-week cycle (hospital medicine wards week, elective week, week off). Supervision is one-on-one, and overall supervision is provided by the fellowship director. Formal procedure training for fundamental hospitalist skills will be provided early in the fellowship.

Required Rotations

Hospital Medicine (17 weeks, includes IMCU patients), Critical Care (6-8 weeks), Cardiology (1 week), Neurology (1 week), Palliative Care (1 week), Infectious Disease (1 week). A week of night shifts is encouraged to offer exposure to the nocturnist experience and skill set.

Electives

Addiction Medicine, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Radiology, Procedures. Additional time on the services with required rotations can be arranged. Other electives can be arranged by request.

Didactics

  • Fellows participate in preparing and delivering monthly teaching conferences for family medicine residents.
  • Bi-weekly teaching conference for fellows, which covers the standard clinical curriculum for hospitalists as outlined by the Society of Hospital Medicine, plus several additional topics.
