Why I chose Providence Regional Medical Center Everett: PRMCE is a major tertiary care center with state-of-the-art facilities that allows residents to practice at the forefront of modern pharmacy. As a level II trauma center with one of the busiest emergency departments in the state, there are many opportunities to work alongside other healthcare professionals on complex, high acuity patients. Additionally, there is a wide range of acute and ambulatory care rotations designed to produce a well-rounded pharmacist. What ultimately drew me to choose PRMCE was the dedication of the staff towards the mission of serving those in the community who are in need.

Major Project Topic: Optimization of Sedative Use in the Medical Intensive Care Unit

Why I chose Providence Regional Medical Center Everett: I knew going into residency process that I was drawn to the acute-care aspects of pharmacy practice, particularly the fast-paced, hands-on environment I was exposed to on a prior emergency department experience. Considering the fact that PRMCE allowed a significant number of elective rotations, I was able to customize my experience to meet my professional interests and goals. Everett has one of the busiest emergency services in the state which fit well with what I wanted to get out of a residency, but the people here are what sold me on my choice. The pharmacists and technicians who practice here have a genuine warmth and openness that appealed to me, and it is evident that they’ve built a community around each other that encompasses much more than a business relationship alone.

Major Project Topic: Improve Pharmacy Staff Education Process

Why I chose Providence Regional Medical Center Everett: PRMCE is focused on acute care pharmacy, with a wide spectrum of rotations available. With my interest in acute care, PRMCE really stood out to me and gave me the ability to experience rotations in multiple areas in order to allow me to build on my previous experiences. These were all things that were visible to me online, but during the interview a few things stood out to me: the tight-knit team, the passion for patient care, and the enthusiasm of the preceptors. The team is committed to the resident's success and will allow me to become a well-rounded pharmacist in the acute care setting.
