The Providence Surgical Simulation Institute (PSSI) is located in Northeast Portland, Oregon on the Providence Portland Medical Center campus. We provide the laboratory for practicing surgeons and surgical residents to acquire and maintain surgical skills competency. PSSI is an important resource equipped with the latest minimally invasive technology for advanced surgical education and curriculum that focuses on practice-building skills, critical assessment of patient safety and quality assurance issues.
Vital to PSSI is its collaborative partnership with the Foundation for Surgical Innovation and Education (FSIE). Our partnership with FSIE enables the Institute to offer courses in advanced endoscopic and laparoscopic training. FSIE also brings minimally invasive surgeons experienced in various advanced laparoscopic, therapeutic endoscopic and Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) procedures, to PSSI. These surgeons are willing to facilitate and lead training courses.
