PRMCE PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Applicant Requirements

Prior to the start of the program, the candidate shall be a graduate of an American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) accredited school of pharmacy and be licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington State. Residents that are not licensed as a pharmacist at the beginning of the residency must be licensed as a pharmacy intern in Washington State.

All candidate must participate in the ASHP Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) resident matching program and shall meet all requirements for employment at PRMCE. Strong residency candidates will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, professionalism and leadership both in pharmacy and in their communities, and demonstrable commitment to the delivery of pharmaceutical care.

Deadline: January 2nd

Preliminary Interviews: Applicants will go through a quick 5-10 minute preliminary video interview with the RPD and RPC on either January 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Please be on the lookout for an email from Zeb Porter once you submit your application to schedule the online interview.

Interviews: Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted no later than January 20th. On-site half day interviews are held at the PRMCE Colby Campus on February 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th.

How to Apply

To be eligible for our residency program, please complete the following via PhORCAS:

  • Cover letter, stating intentions for applying to a PGY-1 program and interest in PRMCE
  • Completed hand-written or typed supplemental questionnaire
    • Check your submitted application, in past years there has been a glitch in PhORCAS where the supplemental questions will appear blank. If it is blank, please submit the completed questions via email to Zebadiah.Porter@providence.org
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae no longer than 10 pages
  • Three (3) letters of professional recommendation
    • The resident selection committee at PRMCE prefers letters of recommendation from authors that have extensive working experience with the candidate. Letters from acute care experiences are preferred but due to the variation of rotation and internship opportunities, this is not an absolute requirement.
  • Official copy of college of pharmacy transcripts

Match results are posted every year in March and once posted, eligible candidates must complete a PRMCE employment application. Instructions will be sent out once match results are posted.
