Walla Walla - SMMC & CODS

Lab Assistants (Phlebotomists) at St. Mary Medical Center are on their feet, moving from room to room, collecting samples from all age populations and disease states. Due to patients needing testing results before providers start making rounds, it is common for phlebotomist shifts to start early in the morning. All shifts include rotating weekends and holidays. All Lab Assistant/Phlebotomists also perform specimen processing to prepare samples for testing at SMMC Lab or to be sent out to a reference lab testing location.

Phlebotomists located at the Chase Outpatient Draw Station collect samples from all age populations and disease states. Shifts are generally M-F during business hours, with rotating Saturdays. Patients arrive at the draw station with paper or electronic lab orders from their provider. Phlebotomists enter paper orders into the system and perform phlebotomy.
