The Earn-to-Learn (ETL) phlebotomy training program was created to meet Providence’s workforce needs and remove financial barriers for those wanting to begin a career in Healthcare. The ETL program operates on an “as needed” basis to support open or anticipated phlebotomy positions.
Each site hires their own Clinical Student Interns and sponsors their education and state license. Participants are paid a training wage of $17.00 per hour while in classroom and clinical rotations. In exchange for sponsorship and paid training, participants sign a 2-year work contract to work for the clinical site.
Training in Richland and Walla Walla is a collaboration between the Providence Sacred Heart campus, Kadlec Regional Medical Center and St. Mary Medical Center. Lectures are provided via distance technology from Sacred Heart, with hands-on simulation training and practice occurring in the training classroom. The paid clinical internship is a full-time, 6-week program that prepares you to work in the hospital or an outpatient setting.
Guaranteed Providence Work Placement: Once training is complete and state license is active, participants can transfer into an open phlebotomy position. Some locations have a supplemental position where graduates can cover phlebotomy shifts until a permanent position becomes available.
