At Providence Medical Group we believe strongly in the practice of team-based care that includes a wide spectrum of health care providers. It is our mission to serve all members of the community, especially those who are poor and vulnerable, as expressions of God’s healing love witnessed though the ministry of Jesus. We value compassion, dignity, justice, excellence, and integrity. We envision health for a better world through our promise to “know me, care for me, and ease my way.”
Our program is designed to provide intensive training through a variety of learning experiences aimed at preparing residents to independently formulate comprehensive and integrated care plans for patients diagnosed with behavioral health and neurologic disorders. Our residents will gain in-depth clinical knowledge through direct patient care of adult and pediatric patients. Residents who successfully complete our program will be prepared for board certification in psychiatric pharmacy and for a position as a psychiatric clinical pharmacy specialist.
The purpose of the Providence Medical Group PGY2 psychiatric pharmacy residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
