Why I chose Providence: I chose Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for many reasons, but the first of which was because the of the staple it is in our community. As someone who grew up in the area, Sacred Heart has always been regarded highly in our community. I have been interested in Providence for as long as I can remember given their impressive distinction. As Providence Sacred Heart is one of the largest facilities in the region, I was also especially interested in the program as it provides a wide variety of clinical experiences that have allowed me to explore my interests and become a well-rounded pharmacist. Additionally, Providence Sacred Heart is located in a state that has very progressive pharmacy practice; pharmacists at Sacred Heart are involved in many protocols and are regarded as a valuable member of the team. Lastly, I chose Providence Sacred Heart for the support and sense of community from the pharmacy staff. Throughout my interview last year, the notion of the involvement and encouragement of the entire staff with the residents was relayed by many. I have found this to be exceptionally true. The pharmacy staff at the hospital has a genuine interest in us all as individuals and in our professional success in the program. This team fosters a sense of community with activities both inside and out of the workplace on a regular basis.
