What types of teaching opportunities are available? Do you have a teaching certificate program?

Our residency program is affiliated with Washington State University College of Pharmacy to offer an optional foundational or advanced teaching certificate. As a resident, you'll have teaching opportunities throughout the curriculum, including: didactic lectures, small group teaching in Pharmaceutical Care Laboratory, and assistance with precepting 4th-year students on rotations. In the broadest sense, our affiliation encourages an academically motivated environment and our residents can obtain adjunct faculty status as clinical instructors.

What is the staffing requirement?

Residents complete two 8-hour centralized pharmacist shifts every other weekend. Staffing requirements begin the week of August 10. Residents that are not licensed by August 10 will have staffing delayed until they are licensed and previously scheduled staffing hours will need to be made up once licensed.

How do residents select their research projects?

Projects are selected from a list of project ideas or ideas can be developed with preceptors and approved by the Residency Advisory Council (RAC).

Are there requirements for presenting my resident research project?

Residents are required to present a preliminary research poster at the annual ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in December and to present research project results at a local pharmacy residency conference in May. Residents are required to submit a completed manuscript of their research project at the end of the residency year.

Do the residents have their own work space/office and computer?

Residents have their own office that is shared with other clinical pharmacy staff. Each resident has his/her own desk, dual-monitor computer, and storage space. The pharmacy residency office is located outside of the central pharmacy on the second-floor of the institution complete with meeting space and windows.

What are the residency benefits?

As a pharmacy resident, you will be an employee of Kadlec Regional Medical Center and you will qualify for employee benefits. Your benefits package will include: medical, prescription, vision and dental coverage (for you and your dependents), and paid time off. The residency program supports travel to state, regional and national meetings.

Do you only consider applicants who visit your program during a residency showcase?

No, we consider all candidates that meet application requirements and submit a completed application through PhORCAS.

Do students/graduates from University of Washington or Washington State University receive preferential status for interviews?

No, candidates are only considered based on the application materials submitted through PhORCAS.

Are international candidates eligible for participation in your residency program?

Unfortunately, we are not accepting international candidates at this time.
