FAQ for DO Applicants

Do you have osteopathic recognition through the ACGME?

Yes, we received ACGME osteopathic recognition in 2016 with continued accreditation through 2028.

Do you have osteopathic faculty and residents?

Yes. Please see the Faculty and Resident Page.

Do you require osteopathic applicants to take the USMLE?

We do not require osteopathic applicants to take the USMLE.

What kind of OMT training do you provide?

  • We encourage our DO residents to practice OMT in their continuity clinic
  • Manipulation Clinic is held 2-3 times per month where two DO residents and an osteopathic faculty see patients together for a one-on-one teaching experience
  • Monthly OMT didactics and hands-on lab
  • Dedicated OMT room with OMT Hi-Lo table
  • Exposure to alternative therapies including a core faculty doing acupuncture

Do you have osteopathic medical school affiliation?

Yes, we are affiliated with Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington.

Do I have to submit a family medicine letter of recommendation?

Yes, you must submit a letter of recommendation from a family medicine physician with whom you have rotated.

Please be aware that ERAS only allows for four LORs to be uploaded. One of those must be from a family medicine physician. We do not accept application materials outside of ERAS.

Do you have a "minimum score" for eligibility?

We do not have a minimum score requirement, but we are a competitive program and have students with high scores applying.

All scores must be received before the application deadline. Please be aware that it can take up to 6 weeks for scores to be released from USMLE and/or COMLEX.

Are you a competitive program?

We receive approximately 1,000 applications each year for seven positions.
