At Providence St. Patrick Hospital (PSPH), you will have a chance to develop advanced skills in contemporary pharmacy practice. The residency is flexible, permitting us to individualize the emphasis of the program to meet your specific professional goals. The Providence organization believes strongly in patient-centered, clinical pharmacy practice. Through our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, you will gain the broad experience necessary to succeed as a clinical pharmacist.
The Residency Program is committed to developing pharmacy practitioners
with the knowledge and skills required to promote and deliver high-quality
pharmaceutical care services. Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is designed
to meet the requirements as outlined by ASHP. Pharmacy residents completing
a PGY1 Residency at PSPH will gain competency in the management of patients
on all parts of the acuity spectrum, from ambulatory to critical care.
Residents are responsible for achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes
as a part of
interdisciplinary health care teams. Residents will have the opportunity
to participate in a longitudinal ambulatory care exp erience, and they
will also be involved in successful transitions of care to help prevent
medication-related hospital readmissions. The resident will learn to work
independently in all assigned practice areas. Residents will have opportunities
to educate others by presenting clinical inservices, teaching and precepting
pharmacy students. The goal is for each pharmacy resident to grow into
an experienced clinical
pharmacist, be proactive and assertive in their interactions with other
staff and disciplines and foster an awareness of local and national pharmacy issues.
