At Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, our mission is to train tomorrow’s expert clinicians and physician leaders. In service to that goal, we create a supportive, nurturing environment, fostering intellectual rigor, curiosity, respect, and the principles of lifelong learning and the primacy of the patient. We will develop in every resident, the tools required of the 21st century physician, including scientific knowledge, technological facility, critical and analytic skills, and a foundational understanding of evidence based, value-oriented health care and quality improvement. We believe it is a joy and a privilege to be a physician. We recognize that improving the health of patients and communities requires understanding, creativity, compassion, and resilience. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive work force that reflects and represents the communities we serve, and that redressing present and historical inequities requires steadfast and proactive resolution. Whether in primary care, hospital care, or a medical subspecialty, our residents will be well prepared for a career of excellence in clinical care, service and leadership.
