The Providence Oregon AMS Program consists of 2 infectious diseases (ID) pharmacists and 2 ID physicians that cover 8 hospitals throughout the state. Our program is divided into an east and west region with one pharmacist and one physician co-leading each region. We work to optimize care of patients with infectious diseases on a daily basis by providing direct patient review, education, and policies and procedures that support front-line clinicians.
PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice (Infectious diseases). PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings.
Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
Most resident rotations will be located at the two main hospital sites
(Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence St Vincent Medical
Center) with the goal of providing diverse patient care experiences across
diverse patient populations.
Residents will spend the first part of the year gaining experience in antimicrobial
stewardship and microbiology. Residents will then transition to the infectious
diseases consult service and participate advanced electives such as pediatric
infectious diseases.
Every 3rd weekend the residency will provide centralized AMS services for the two main hospitals (PPMC and PSVMC)
