Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Fellowship

Providence Brain and Spine Institute offers one and two-year clinical fellowships in cerebrovascular and endovascular treatment. Applicants should be fully trained in neurosurgery and will receive hands-on training from some of the most experienced, multi-disciplinary specialists in the country.

Fellows are encouraged to apply two years prior to starting a fellowship program.

Description

This clinical fellowship provides experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of cerebrovascular and endovascular disorders, including:

  • Acute ischemic stroke
  • Hypervascular tumor
  • Cavernous malformation
  • cerebral aneurysms
  • arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
  • vascular neoplasm
  • Moyamoya Disease
  • extracranial carotid and vertebral artery disorders, including carotid endarterectomy.

The Fellow will gain exposure in the diagnosis, treatment and management of neurosurgical disorders using the latest techniques and technology:

  • Microsurgery, including advance bypass techniques using a state-of-the-art surgical microscope
  • Endovascular surgery, including flow diversion and advanced embolization techniques
  • State-of-the-art bi-plane angiography
  • Advanced Intraoperative Imaging (iMRI and Neuronavigation)
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Experience with skull base approaches for neurovascular disorders including orbitozygomatic and far lateral transcondylar approach

Program Goals

This clinical fellowship is primarily focused on providing the fellow extensive experience with neurovascular surgery to enable a successful academic or private practice career.
