Application Faqs

Will your program accept applications from international graduates?

Yes. We do accept applications from international graduates and do have international graduates in our current program.

Will your program sponsor H1B and J1 visas?

No. We are regretfully unable to accept applications from VISA holders at this time.

Do you have cut off scores for USMLE or COMLEX?

Yes. Applicants must have passing USMLE or COMLEX Step 1 and Step 2 scores.

Will your program make exceptions for otherwise qualified applicants who have not passed one or both of their USMLE or COMLEX steps?

No. All applicants must have passing USMLE or COMLEX step 1 and step 2 scores.

Do you have an attempt limit for passing the USMLE or COMLEX steps?

No, as long as the applicant has passing final scores.

Do I need to have my PTAL in hand before I apply?

No. The California Medical Board has discontinued the requirement for the postgraduate training authorization letter (PTAL) effective January 1st, 2020. Effective January 1st 2020, all applicants must be eligible for the Postgraduate Training License (PTL). This includes both international and U.S. graduates. Please see the California Medical Board website for more details.

Will your program take paper applications or applications outside of ERAS.

No. Only applications submitted through ERAS are acceptable.

When is the application deadline?

December 31st, 2020..

Do you participate in the Match?

Yes. We only accept applicants registered for the Match (NRMP).

How many letters of recommendation do I need?

Three. At least one letter from a family medicine faculty preferred. The rest should be from primary care specialties.

Does your program have a cutoff for number of years since graduating medical school?

Yes. Applicants need to have graduated from a medical school recognized by the Medical Board of California within the last two years.

Will your program make an exception to the two-year graduation cutoff for an otherwise qualified applicant?

No. Applicants must have graduated from medical school within the last two years.

Will your program accept applications from medical residents with prior training?

No. We are regretfully unable to accept applications from medical residents with prior training at this time.
