Lana brings a uniquely global perspective to her journey in medicine, shaped
by a nontraditional path that has strengthened her adaptability and deepened
her connection with patients. Born and raised in Russia, she moved to
Costa Rica at the age of 12, where she embraced new languages and cultures—an
experience that continues to inform her culturally sensitive and patient-centered
approach to care.
She earned her medical degree from the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas in San José, Costa Rica, where she developed a strong commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations. During her training, Lana was drawn to Family Medicine for its broad scope and the meaningful opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients. She values the ability to care for individuals across all stages of life, with particular interest in women’s health, acute care, and continuity of care.
Lana is passionate about practicing in rural and underserved communities, where she hopes to expand access to essential services. Her clinical interests include obstetrics, women’s health, and emergency care, and she plans to pursue additional training in obstetrics with the goal of providing full-spectrum care as a Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB) physician.
Outside of medicine, Lana enjoys staying active and connected to nature through hiking, camping, running, and working out. She also finds joy in cooking, traveling, and reading.
